The Green Roof Competition has now closed... winner to be announced shortly...
The biodiverse green roof is widely recognised for its environmental benefits, as well as much needed habitat for insects and other wildlife. It will also help your students learn about the wildlife around them and why it is so important to protect it.
We are offering a green roof to the area of the UK which has collectively uploaded the most photos by 31st March 2010*. Created in conjunction with leading urban ecologist and wildlife TV presenter Dusty Gedge and sponsors Sika Sarnafil, the green roof will not only benefit local children who will use it as an outdoor classroom, it will help attract and preserve local wildlife too. This is particularly important at a time when the habitats of some of our oldest and most loved species, such as the stag beetle and corncrake are in decline.
Biodiversity Information and Activity Pack
Everybody who takes part in What on Earth will be emailed our Biodiversity Information and Activity pack. This is full of great ideas to engage your pupils with during National Science and Engineering Week. We're currently putting the finishing touches to the pack, but will be in touch with everybody who registers on What on Earth as soon as its complete!
Looking for more activities? Check out the National Science and Engineering Week website for our What on Earth activity pack, and more!
* Total number of images uploaded will be averaged out over the number of people living there to make it fair
